to requirements not originally provided for, I would state that complete estimates were asked for in the original competition but no provision for various matters was made by the Architects until their attention was again called to such after the commencement of the work.
I submit that a perusal of my Reports and subsequent files have demonstrated that I have done all
that was humanly possible.
Clause 5, Clock Tower.
I beg to ask you to kindly peruse Clause 6
(e) pages 1213 and Clause 8, page 17 in this letter relating to the above.
I respectfully submit that it can scarcely be considered part of my duty to check such drawings having regard to the fact that the Architects were paid full fees for their work, yet as previously stated I have checked and amended many drawings as far as possible with a most limited staff to enable the building as a
whole to be carried on and when time permitted, I dealt
with the Tower.
Clause 6.
As regards the comment re increase of cost
under para (1) of this heading, I beg to submit that the
cause of such has been clearly demonstrated in this letter
With respect to loss of interest and clain made
by the Contractor I beg to refer you to Clause 9, page
17 of this letter.
